Clemens Schülke has been mayor and deputy mayor for economic affairs, labor, and digitalization for the city of Leipzig since November 1, 2022.

The Office for Economic Development sees itself as a close partner to small and medium-sized enterprises. Its activities range from contact management, initial information and advice on economic issues, to the provision of economic information and conflict management. One of the goals of the city's economic development program is to create reliable conditions for entrepreneurs and start-ups, as well as new jobs for the region.
