
DR. CARSTEN MAHRENHOLZ

Dr. Carsten Mahrenholz studied biology and earned a doctorate in chemistry. At the same time, he completed an MBA at universities in Berlin and Cambridge. After working as a consultant for small and medium-sized enterprises and scientific institutions, he took over the management of a high-tech transfer company. In 2015, he co-founded COLDPLASMATECH GmbH and became a pioneer in plasma medicine. Together with his team, he developed a “Star Trek”-like medical device for treating chronic wounds and killing multi-resistant bacteria.
For their work, they received numerous awards in the fields of business, innovation, and technology—including the IQ Innovation Award, the Leibniz Founder Award, and the prestigious German Innovation Award 2018.
Carsten was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the “Entrepreneur of the Year” award, is one of the first LAB Fellows of the Nobel Laureate Meetings, and recently ranked first in the “Health & Science” category on the Business Punk Top 100 Watchlist.
In 2022, he was named one of the ten most influential leaders in healthcare by Insights Success Magazine.
Carsten supports the European Institute of Technology as an ambassador and became a member of the High Perspective Commission of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research in 2021.
